Reaction Essay

In “Persepolis”  by Marjane Satrapi, one of the major themes is about people suffering from authoritarian control. The guardians of the revolution controlled all aspects of their life their life. For example, in the book Marjane the character is wearing a jacket with a Michael Jackson pin. When the guardians see her, they stopped her and asked her to take it off and asked her to go to the committee. They reason why they did that is because they don't want the Iranians effected by the western culture.

Furthermore, guardians control what they can or can’t do such as, parties weren’t allowed and some tried to have it under covered. Alcoholic beverages were not allowed, too.  His uncle had built a genuine wine making at his basement to make sure nobody will know. That night, when they were at their way home, police stopped them and they smelled alcohol on her father. They asked him to drive to his home in to discover if he has any alcohol.

This theme is important because it shows that people need to be free. This book does a good job at showing this in different ways. I believe this because everyone wants to be independent in his life. I remembered when I was at home, I weren’t able to say, act, and behave naturally. Not because someone is controlled me but because how the society see my behavior is a strange and unacceptable.

What I suffered from can’t even compare it with what happened with Marjane, even though it was frustrating for me. Therefore, in Persepolis I see my self. It's a useful story, which helps you thinking about freedom and how people defended, died, lost their properties to have their rights to do, say, and act with no authority control.

Should teenagers leave home after high school?

For this portfolio I was interested in discussing when the teenagers should leave home.
When I came to the U.S, I noticed that teenagers leave the house immediately after high school.
In fact, if the teenagers leave early that could damage them. Similarly, if teenagers spend too much time with their parents that also could damage them.

This issue is important because its happen in many families. Also, it's not an individual issue, it's an issue that effects the entire society.

I have made a video that summarize the issue.

Thank you for checking my blog.

Argument Essay; Teenagers Leaving Home

Usually a child grows up in a house full of tenderness and love. Parents will take care of their child and try as much as possible to offer everything that required for their baby to have a comfortable life. In addition, they will teach him or her morals, behavior, and how to deal and/or think in his beginning life. When their child becomes a teenager, they consider that moment as a new step especially in the American society. Many people think it’s the time for their child to get out of the house and live by himself. On the other hand, other people say it shouldn't be a rule. I believe that we shouldn’t judge everyone with the same criteria because each person has a different situation and life conditions.

Annotated Bibliography

In “Helping Your Teenager Leave Home” by Yvonne Jayne,M.ED, the author said parents should prepare their teenagers to be able to live on their own. One of the things that they should learn is how to do house chores. In addition, they should know how to do things outside home. For example, show him how to take the bus to go to his school. The author also says parents need to recognize that their teenager will face difficulties and needs someone to listen to him. Nevertheless, if you having any problems with your teenager about being irresponsible you should treat him harsh. Also, don't control or monitor your teenager, give him a space to deal with his own life. Don't deal with him like a baby, because it doesn't help you to let him be an adult.

In “Arguments on Teens Leaving Homefor College“ by Cathy Moeschet, the author said the first reason for teens to leave the house is teenager worry about choosing their major which may not be offer by a university at their hometown. Some teenagers might leave the house and skip family problems to attend a good school. The next reason is its is teenagers who aren’t qualified to get a financial aid they tend to go out and find a job that will help them to pay for the school tuition. The author also says teenagers aren’t ready to leave the house. They feel homesick when they know that they will be separated from their families. Finally, leaving house is a great opportunity to learn and become professional at life skills.
